December 1st, 2013: I'm an all time fan of youtube/youtubers. Everyday, I would find myself watching vlogs from Louis Cole (funforlouis) to Jesse and Jeana from BFvsGF (aka Prank vs Prank). Once they mentioned that they were coming to Australia, I flipped and was hoping they would hold a meetup.
Its rare for Australians to meet youtubers who live a thousand kilometres away from you. Like America, they have more chances to meet youtubers as they have major events such as VIDCON. I sometimes wish, more youtubers would come down to Australia! But thank god for the Contiki Road Trip. They offered youtubers like Alli, Louis, Jesse and Jeana, Jack, Troye and etc to join in with the challenge. The Contiki group were kind enough to hold a Sydney gathering at The Rocks. The time for the gathering was made to 2:30PM to 5:30PM - but I knew we had to get there earlier. So, my sister and I decided to get on the train at 8:30 AM and head off to Circular Quay. And boy the view was amazing - with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. It was about a ten minute walk from the station, catching the morning breeze of Sydney; it was refreshing. As we arrived to the location, the line was already long; to the point where we had to bend over to the building. From there on, we waited for 5 hours to meet the youtubers. We had to play along with the rules as we could only meet one youtuber, which kinda sucks as most of us wanted to meet more than one. I was torn between two! LOUIS or PRANK VS PRANK? And of course, my sister was in a rush to get to tutor, I went to meet PVP as their line was much shorter. Although there is no image on this blogpost - I also met Nadine Skyora! I absolutely adore her! Though when I started talking to her, her Canadian accent was so strong! I was quick enough to snap a pic with her! After all the epic drama of waiting in line for so long, we walked back to the station. I was amazed at how long the line was once we left. As seen in the last image, the line went all the way under to the Harbour Bridge! I know, it's crazy and I knew the line would get cut to some point. People were complaining that they got cut off, but it wasn't the Contiki group's fault as they made an events page on Facebook to see how many people were going to attend. Less than 2000 people RSVP and as for this, Contiki were expecting at least 2000 people but that TURNED UPSIDE DOWN as 4000 people turned up to the event. Overall, the pain of waiting was worth it!
